Spring 2008

RED TENT REVIVAL
May 14-18, 2008

Come to the Mountain, Sisters,
Come to the Mountain and Testify!
Tell us your stories,
calling on your remembrances of love and support passed down through our mothers, lovers, friends and our chosen sisters.
Join us on a journey of self discovery as we share our stories, embrace sisterhood and nurture each other.
We will return to a time when women shared their life blood, sweat, stories, tears, fears, laughter, song, and dance.

Institute - May 14-16, 2008 - Creating the Red Tent
On the red earth of the Appalachians we will create a world of women inside the red tent of Biblical times, where women (mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, grandmothers and friends) observed the intimate rituals of giving and receiving care through life's changes. Just as they did, we will retell our stories, reclaim connectedness to ourselves as women and our sisters as part of our feminine community and renew our bonds of sisterhood and our dedication to positive change.

The Institute offers 60 women an intimate and intensive environment with a choice of four different tracks in which to explore life's journeys, joys and experiences. We will gather for meals, worship rituals and a wide variety of evening activities. Institute Registration begins at 3:00pm on Wednesday.

Gathering - May 16-18, 2008 - Reviving the Red Tent
These rituals will continue to further develop our sense of community, creating reminders of our ancestors, dancing their joys and sorrows, meditating on women's mysteries and truths, singing our songs, laughing, loving and celebrating our lives transitions. We will fashion and wear our 'Starry Crowns," celebrate our blood, passion and female power and we will "testify"!

The Gathering begins on Friday evening as our numbers and energy swell to as many as 120 women. For Saturday, you may choose either an all-day, or two half-day workshops covering a spectrum of subjects. We will again gather for meals, worship rituals, and a wide variety of evening activities. The Gathering registration begins at 3:00pm on Friday afternoon, followed by Social Hour at 5:00 to give the 100 plus women a chance to introduce themselves to one another. One of our most popular Saturday evening activities is the traditional Saturday night Womenspirit Cabaret. Provide entertainment or just join in the applause. Be it poetry, song, music, dance, or performance art, all are welcome in this safe, fun, supportive environment.
